The Dor’ 2 Door is a monthly school newsletter. The main goal of the Dor' 2 Door is to share school events and day to day accomplishments with the parents, staff and the students. Another goal is to help students boost their writing and computer skills. Most of the students on the Dor' 2 Door type very quickly and know exactly what to do if you give them a computer. And the most important goal, having fun!
Students meet once a month at recess to review their assignments. Assignments include: scheduling & conducting interviews with the school staff members and/or guests, choosing a monthly volunteer, spotlighting students, take pictures, etc. One week is given to complete these tasks. Students then meet in the computer lab at lunch to type their reports, have both English and French corrected and save them in the appropriate folder.
Self-confidence and social skills have improved for most students from approaching adults in their environment and conducting interviews. Writing skills in both English and French have developed and continue to do so and the students are becoming more creative in their ideas and suggestions for the newsletter.
We have changed the format of the Dor’ 2 Door. One month we will bring you news from the classroom and the next reports will be on all of our other activities.
We hope you enjoy the school through their eyes!
